Organised by the Krk Town Tourist Board, with the support of partners and collaborators from the outdoor and sports sector, this December the island presents a new Advent chapter – Krk Winter Trails. This programme combines active time in nature, cultural-historical stories and local flavours, offering visitors the opportunity to experience Krk beyond the usual winter framework. Through four separate events – two cycling programmes and two interpretive walks – participants can choose between recreation, landscape exploration and guided thematic experiences of island heritage.

FREE INTERPRETIVE STORYTELLING WALK “FROM KARST TO GOLD”

Sunday, 28 December 2025

Join us for a unique journey through the old town of Krk – the interpretive walk “From Karst to Gold”. This free tour is not just an ordinary walk, but a story that turns the town into a living stage and its streets into guides through centuries of history, art and everyday life.

The walk begins at the Square of the Krk Glagolitic Scribes, next to the impressive Romanesque Church of Our Lady of Health. Once dedicated to St. Michael and later renamed during a cholera epidemic, the church today symbolises hope and protection – the perfect spot to introduce the story of health and the knowledge of medicinal herbs used by our ancestors. The route continues to the modern premises of the music school, where sounds and stories reveal the island’s rich musical heritage. Here you will learn how an ordinary piece of wood, in the hands of skilled craftsmen, becomes an instrument – a bridge between nature, art and creation.

The walk ends at Kamplin Square, in front of the Frankopan Castle, the only preserved non-religious medieval monument in the town.

Meeting point: Trg krčkih glagoljaša, 11:00 AM

Languages: Croatian and English

Due to a limited number of participants, please register by email at info@visitkrk.city.

Participation in the guided tour is free!

Krk Winter Trails opens a new chapter in the island’s winter experience – one that invites movement, exploration and the discovery of nature and heritage in the colder, quieter part of the year. Every event within the programme offers a different perspective of the island, whether through recreational cycling, a guided walk or the taste of local flavours.

The Krk Town Tourist Board invites residents and visitors to discover Krk in a new way this winter – actively, authentically and in the company of people who share a passion for nature and movement.
