Vrh, Salatić, and Kosić: A love traingle of olives, wine, and prosciutto

This area boasts stunning natural settings dotted with revitalised olive groves and picturesque karst fields. Experience the rural way of life, uncover a mysterious castle, and savour a local trio of delicacies.

The rural settlements of Vrh, Salatić, and Kosić are nestled deeper inland from Krk Town, offering solitude and relaxing walks through green vineyards and olive groves. Just the sight of these agricultural landscapes will calm your mind, helping you reconnect with nature.

In the largest settlement, Vrh, visit the monumental Parish Church of St Michael the Archangel, which has been expanded multiple times during the 19th and 20th centuries. Here, you’ll also find the Žužić Krk Prosciutto House, where you can sample Krk prosciutto, repeatedly crowned the best in Croatia. Nearby, Dvori sv. Jurja offers agrotourism accommodations with glamping options. Enjoy traditional dishes such as slow-cooked lamb paired with home-grown vegetables and olive oil from their garden.

Salatić is renowned for its agricultural landscapes, where traditional farming and production techniques are still practised. Kosić, on the other hand, is a serene oasis, perfect for leisurely walks along its surrounding hiking and cycling trails.

Near Salatić is the ivy-covered castle Salatić, an impressive stone building which is assumed to have been the country building of one of the Krk noble families. The castle probably dates from the 15th century and, although it has not been preserved in its entirety, it will tickle the imagination of lovers of history and legends.
